UBA / NORMAN workshop "Environmental Monitoring of Biocides in Europe - From Prioritization to Measurements"
From 05.-06. An international workshop entitled "Environmental Monitoring of Biocides in Europe - From Prioritization to Measurements" took place in the Saarland State Representation in Berlin. The workshop was a joint event of the Federal Environment Agency and NORMAN (Network of Reference Laboratories for Monitoring of Emerging Environmental Pollutants as part of the recently started research project "Environmental pollution by biocides: Development of the cornerstones of a monitoring measurement program for the entry of biocides into the environment" (FKZ 3712 67 403, UFOPLAN 2012).

News about the old: 23rd International Symposium on Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds in Münster, September 2011
In six plenary lectures, 91 lectures and over 110 posters, the broad area of the PAC was discussed with 200 guests from 34 countries. The invited guests specified the thematic variety, it varied from PAC in space (Douglas M. Hudgins, Washington) to the epidemiological evidence for the carcinogenicity of PAC (Manolis Kogevinas, Barcelona) and the synthesis of very large PAHs from graphene-like molecules (Klaus Müllen, Mainz) to PAC in environmental forensic analysis (Scott Stout, Boston). In addition, this year's ISPAC Research Award was presented to Jocelyn Hellou (Halifax, Canada), who thanked them with a lecture on PAC in the marine environment.

Annual conference "Environment 2010 - From knowledge to decision" from September 6th to 9th, 2010 in Dessau-Roßlau
With the Federal Environment Agency, an authority took over the organization of the conference for the first time this year and has proven that it is just as capable of this task as the previous academic organizers. The Division publication prize was also awarded at the Conference . To come to the fore: The local organizing committee has provided this proof, which in view of around 350 participants and around 100 lectures could not have been easy. This was not only due to the exemplary organization and the diverse supporting program, but also to the inspiring atmosphere of the conference building - the UBA headquarters in Dessau. The working groups of the Federal Environmental Specimen Bank in the Federal Environment Agency and at the University of Trier invited experts to Trier on September 22nd, 2009 for a workshop on national bird egg monitoring in the run-up to the annual meeting of the Division . Experts from the fields of environmental monitoring, food monitoring monitoring , risk assessment and standardization in sampling accepted the invitation. The starting point of the workshop was the findings of the environmental specimen bank and their desire for a comprehensive exchange of experiences. Impressions from the annual conference "Material behavior and effects in environmental compartments" from 23. -25. September at the University of Trier
Following the broad-based conference orientation, many aspects of the entry, behavior and effects of chemicals in water, soil and air were dealt with in around 70 lectures and over 60 posters. The topics "Monitoring and measuring networks", "Environmental specimen banks", "atmospheric chemistry chemistry, tropospheric aerosol", "Soil pollution" and "Environmental analysis" emerged as key areas.

140 participants from 16 different countries met for the workshop to present and discuss the latest developments in the field of fluorine-containing surface-active substances in a total of 30 lectures and a poster exhibition with more than 30 posters. The lectures comprehensively dealt with the areas of synthesis and application, analysis, degradation and toxicity as well as the behavior in the environment of fluorine-containing surface-active substances, but also the state of the art.

3. Joint annual meeting of SETAC-GLB and GDCh Division ' environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology' under the motto 'New problematic substances in the environment - detection, effects, solutions' from 23.-26. September 2008 in Frankfurt am Main
The overarching motto of this year's Conference was "New problem substances in the environment - detection, effects and possible solutions". 3rd German-Brazilian Symposium on "Sustainable Development" from July 23-27, 2007 in Freiburg
The event is based on a 14-year cooperation between Brazilian and German universities in the environmental protection sector. This began in 1993 with a joint workshop between the University of Tübingen and the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Niteroi / RJ.
