Activity report 2016

The AK organized the joint field experiment F-BEACH at Waldstein in Franconia and carried it out with three participating groups (U Bayreuth, U Mainz, TROPOS ACD). The first publication was published in ACPD (Brüggemann et al.) And two more are in preparation.

The AK is represented by P. Wiesen and H. Herrmann in the organization of the Expert Meetings on Atmospheric Chemistry (EFAC) for the third year in a row. The GDCh is explicitly mentioned as a co-organizing organization of these events. EFAC 1 and EFAC 2 were successful events. The EFAC 3 will take place in Frankfurt at the beginning of December and has the title "3rd VDI Expert Forum on Atmospheric Chemistry - New and emerging technologies: Impact on air quality and climate December 06, 2016, Frankfurt (Main), Germany". At the end of September, a CDZ-funded workshop on ?Aerosols and Health? will take place in Guangzhou. Prof. Jean Krutmann (IUF Düsseldorf) leads the workshop. H. Herrmann and A. Wahner take part to map the experimental atmospheric chemistry chemistry. The aim is to establish further links between Chinese and German partners and to involve other members of the AKAC.

Personnel

The chairman of the working group Prof. Dr. Hartmut Herrmann will be a member of Review Board 313 in the follow-up procedure from January 2015, so that after a while an atmospheric chemist will be represented on this committee again. On April 6, 2010, he was honored with the renowned Gay-Lussac-Humboldt Research Prize at the Institut de France in Paris for his excellent contributions to atmospheric multiphase chemistry. Prof. Herrmann received the award on the one hand for his excellent contributions to atmospheric multiphase chemistry through laboratory studies, modeling and field studies over the past 20 years. On the other hand, the award recognizes his services to Franco-German research cooperation in the field of atmospheric chemistry.
