Location

Our 8th SEC annual meeting took place from May 2nd to 4th, 2022 at the HKK Hotel in Wernigerode. The Conference offered "everything under one roof," making the 8th SEC Annual Meeting a very convenient Conference . You can download our flyer for the Conference in Wernigerode here as a PDF.

Wernigerode is a highly attractive small town in the heart of the Harz Mountains. It is known for its many half-timbered houses and a particularly magnificent Renaissance town hall. The Conference was followed by May 1st, a public holiday, and thus by Walpurgis Night, the night of the witches. It is celebrated especially in Wernigerode and Schierke (famous for Schierker Feuerstein, a herbal bitter) and, of course, on the Brocken mountain. But even without witches and devils, the Harz Mountains are ideal for hiking and relaxation. Besides the Harz itself, attractive destinations in the surrounding area include Quedlinburg, Halberstadt, Goslar, and Gernrode (see excursion destinations below).
