A special occasion: The 10th SEC Annual Meeting of Senior Expert Chemists (SEC) took place in Bayreuth from May 4th to 6th, 2026. The Conference motto was " Shaping the Future with Chemistry." In 2026, SEC celebrated its 20th anniversary, and this year's event was particularly special in Bayreuth. With almost 250 participants, the Conference was very well attended. The scientific program and the social program can be found on the official GDCh website (gdch.de/sec2026). be viewed.
A highlight of the program was the lecture by Ben Feringa (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2016) before our gala evening on May 5, 2026, on "From Molecular Machines to Photopharmacology." The lecture took place in the large chemistry lecture hall at the University of Bayreuth and was attended by approximately 570 people.
Numerous volunteers from JCF Bayreuth took care of the organization and moderated the presentations. A heartfelt thank you to them as well!
This time we opted for a Conference in southern Germany. This Conference , too, was able to take place "all under one roof" at the Arvena Hotel in downtown Bayreuth.
