Prize of the Society of Water Chemistry

Since 1971, the Society of Water Chemistry Division of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) has awarded the Society of Water Chemistry Prize at its annual "Water" conference to recognize outstanding scientific achievements in the field of water chemistry, provided that there are worthy candidates. The award is intended to support young scientists under the age of forty. The prize includes an award certificate and prize money of 3,000 euros paid for by the Walter Kölle Foundation. The award is decided by the Board of the Society of Water Chemistry.

The award, originally established under the name "Division Award", has been known since 2011 as the "Prize of the Society of Water Chemistry - sponsored by the Walter Kölle Foundation".

Objective
The Society of Water Chemistry Division of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) awards the Society of Water Chemistry Prize – sponsored by the Walter Kölle Foundation. The award honors outstanding scientific achievements in the field of water chemistry and is intended for people who have made special contributions to this scientific discipline and are under 40 years of age.

The price
The award includes an award certificate and prize money of 3,000 euros paid by the Walter Kölle Foundation. The prize will be awarded at the Annual Water Conference 2025, which will take place in Münster from May 26-28, 2025. The awardee will be invited to present the award-winning research achievement in a scientific lecture at the Conference . The costs for participation in the conference will be borne by the Division. A prize committee consisting of at least three specialist group members will evaluate the submissions; the final decision will be made by majority vote of the Division Board .

nomination
People who have achieved outstanding achievements in the field of water chemistry and who are under 40 years of age can be nominated. Self-nominations are expressly excluded. All nominations consist of an informal statement of reasons with appreciation of the achievements and the CV of the nominee (including email address).
