Badge of Honor of the Society of Water Chemistry

To recognize exceptional commitment to the Society of Water Chemistry 's Division of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), the Division Board awards the Badge of Honor to selected individuals at irregular intervals. The ceremony traditionally takes place during the annual WASSER conference.

On May 11, 2026, Dr. Michael Petri was awarded the Badge of Honor as part of WASSER 2026:

"[...] in recognition of his many years of service to the Society of Water Chemistry. Based on his extensive expertise, he enriched the annual conferences with numerous valuable contributions. In particular, he demonstrated how fundamental analytical research from the Society of Water Chemistry can be translated into practical laboratory applications. His tireless dedication to the standardization of water analysis deserves special mention. Through his own systematic investigations, he played a key role in developing the German Standard Methods and other DIN and ISO standards, significantly influencing their development. Such contributions, which are not always publicly visible, are of fundamental importance to the Society of Water Chemistry high standards of quality."

On May 26, 2025, Dr. Norbert Konradt was awarded the Badge of Honor as part of WASSER 2025:

"[...] in recognition of his many years of service to the Society of Water Chemistry. Based on his extensive expertise, he enriched the annual conferences with numerous valuable presentations. He demonstrated how fundamental research from the Society of Water Chemistry can be translated into practical applications in water supply. His tireless efforts to secure long-term financial support for the Society of Water Chemistry from the Düsseldorf municipal utilities, which is largely due to his work, deserve special mention. Such support is essential for the success of our annual conferences."
