Who we are - What we do

The rapid developments in the field of chemistry and technology of washing and cleaning, which have been observed particularly since the 1950s, and the associated diverse ecological, human toxicological and other problems, have made cooperation between representatives of the most diverse scientific and technical disciplines absolutely necessary.

In 1974, the GDCh Division was founded in Bamberg as a forum for the scientific exchange of opinions and experiences of all people from universities, research institutes, authorities and the raw materials and detergent industry who are concerned with the challenges of detergent chemistry. Within this forum, discussions on all technical questions relating to detergents and cleaning agents can be held openly and constructively. Particular attention is paid to science-oriented statements on the sustainable benefits for people in their environment and to the promotion of young scientists. In 2010, the group was renamed the GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry. The Division has around 400 members.
