Who we are - What we do

The rapid developments in the field of chemistry and technology of washing and cleaning that have occurred since the 1950s and the associated diverse ecological, human toxicological and other challenges have made it absolutely necessary for all those involved in this field from universities, research institutes, authorities and the raw materials and detergent industry to work together.

In 1974, the GDCh Division was founded in Bamberg as a forum for the scientific exchange of opinions and experiences. Since then, discussions on all technical questions relating to detergents and cleaning agents have been held openly and constructively within this forum. Particular attention is paid to science-oriented statements on the sustainable benefits for people in their environment and to the promotion of young scientists.
