Who we are - What we do

The rapid developments in the field of washing and cleaning chemistry and technology since the 1950s, and the diverse ecological, human toxicological and other challenges associated with them, made the collaboration of all persons involved in this subject area from universities, research institutes, authorities and the raw materials and detergent industry absolutely necessary.

Thus, in 1974, the GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry was founded in Bamberg as a forum for the scientific exchange of opinions and experiences. Since then, discussions on all technical questions relating to detergents and cleaning agents have been conducted openly and constructively within this forum. Particular emphasis is placed on science-oriented statements regarding the sustainable benefits for people and their environment, and on the promotion of young scientists.
