The GDCh awards high-level prizes and awards to all ages and career levels in various fields of chemistry and related sciences. Some prizes and awards are given in close cooperation with other scientific societies or have been made possible by foundations set up at the GDCh.
Honorary membership in the GDCh is the highest honor awarded by the society. This honors scientists who have achieved great things both for science and for the goals of the GDCh.
The GDCh prizes are highly regarded in the scientific community both nationally and internationally. Prizes are awarded in the various fields of chemistry and related sciences. The award winners are distinguished by their excellent work.
Some of the foundations established by the GDCh award top-class prizes to excellent scientists at different career levels. In addition, our foundations support scientific projects and award scholarships to young scientists.
The various specialist groups of the GDCh also award prizes and awards in the respective specialist areas. Most of the specialist groups focus on promoting young scientists, who are thereby supported in their work.
The Association of German University Professors of Chemistry (ADUC) honors up to three junior research group leaders each year for establishing an independent research area. The award takes place within the framework of the chemistry lecturer conference.
The GDCh high school diploma award is an award from the GDCh for the best chemistry students at grammar schools or comprehensive schools. The award is intended to encourage young people's interest in chemistry.
The GDCh graduate award is given to graduates of chemistry-related training courses. The purpose of the award is to further strengthen the graduates' interest in chemistry and to support them through a large network.
The "Topic Prize for Linking Theory with Chemical Practice" as part of the "Jugend forscht" competition has been awarded by the GDCh for several years. Like the high school graduation award, the award is intended to encourage young people's interest in chemistry.
