In 2025, the German Chemical Society (GDCh) will award the GDCh Abitur Prize for the 21st time to the best high school graduates of the year at grammar schools or comprehensive schools. The high school graduates are usually awarded when they receive their high school diploma. Each school can nominate one awardee for the book prize and two other students for free GDCh membership per high school year.

The prize for the best chemistry student consists of a certificate, a book and the option to become a free member of the GDCh for one year. This is interesting for everyone who wants to start studying science or engineering, not just prospective students of chemistry, biochemistry, food chemistry or chemistry teaching.

Teachers are called upon to select the best chemistry teachers of the year and name them to the GDCh. Any school that teaches chemistry up to the Abitur can register to take part in the GDCh Abitur Prize. Registration takes place via the registration link on this website.

Unfortunately, registrations via email cannot be considered.

Please register your school using the Online link below. You will then receive a school number and password which you can use to log in to the same registration page.

Has your school already participated in the awarding of the GDCh Abitur Prize in recent years?

In this case, you will receive a notification in February about the start of the campaign. Using the school number and password you already know, you can (if necessary) change existing master data online and inform us of the new date of your graduation ceremony and the name of the prize winner.

Please register your award winner as soon as the results of the Abitur examination are known. Entries received at short notice may no longer be processed and sent in good time.
