The German Chemical Society (GDCh) will award its Abitur Prize for the 22nd time in 2026 to the top-performing high school graduates from grammar schools and comprehensive schools. The graduates are usually honored at the graduation ceremony. Each school can nominate one awardee per graduating class, who will receive a book prize, as well as two additional students who will receive free GDCh memberships.

The prize for the best chemistry student consists of a certificate, a book, and the option of a free one-year membership in the German Chemical Society (GDCh). This is interesting for anyone planning to study natural sciences or engineering, not just prospective students of chemistry, biochemistry, food chemistry , or chemistry teacher training.

Teachers are encouraged to select the top students in chemistry from their year group and nominate them to the German Chemical Society (GDCh). Any school that offers chemistry as a subject up to the Abitur (university entrance exam) can register for the GDCh Abitur Prize. Registration is via the registration link on this website.

Please register your school using the Online link below. You will then receive a school number and password which you can use to log in to the same registration page.

Has your school already participated in the awarding of the GDCh Abitur Prize in recent years?

In this case, you will receive a notification in February about the start of the campaign. Using the school number and password you already know, you can (if necessary) change existing master data online and inform us of the new date of your graduation ceremony and the name of the prize winner.
