The Working Group Vocational Education (AGBB) of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) was founded in 2009. It represents the interests of members of non-academic chemistry professions such as chemical technical assistants, chemical laboratory technicians or chemical engineers.

The AGBB has set itself the task of…

to bring together all persons who are completing or have completed training in the chemical sector and related fields,
to strengthen non-academic professions in chemistry,
to advise on the subject of “vocational education”,
to create a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences,
to expand the range of continuing education courses for non-academic professional groups.

The AGBB…

works independently of, but in exchange with, trade unions, employers’ associations and organisations of the chemical industry,
maintains contact with the relevant ministries of the federal states, the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK), professional associations and other interest groups on training and legal issues,
regularly exchanges information with schools and training companies in order to assess the current situation of all intermediate chemical professions.

AGBB scholarships

The AGBB awards scholarships to chemical laboratory technicians, chemical engineers, CTA students and young professionals to attend analytica or the GDCh Science Forum.

Since 2007, the GDCh has been awarding prizes for the best graduates of the year who have completed a chemistry-related training course.
