The Division of Solid-State Chemistry & Materials Research of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) supports the activities of young scientists with various scholarship opportunities. In this way, younger members of the specialist group should be able to access financial support for actively attending national and international Conferences, seminars or workshops as part of their training. General conditions:

     

  • Target group: doctoral candidates, postdocs, habilitation candidates,
  • Prerequisite: active participation in the event, i.e. presentation of a lecture or poster,
  • The topic and content of the Conference should be closely related to your own field of work,
  • Promotion of participation in a maximum of one national and one international Conference per person and year.

1. General Conference Grants

The Division of Solid-State Chemistry & Materials Research awards a limited number of travel grants for active participation in freely selectable Conferences. These can be requested at any time by e-mail from the GDCh Office (for the attention of Maike Fries ) with the subject " Conference grant for solid state chemistry & materials research" no later than three weeks before the start of the event. Each application contains the following documents:

     

  • completed application form,
  • Short cover letter (max. 1 page): (a) explanation of the connection between the conference contribution and your own research work, (b) estimate of travel and accommodation costs, (c) conference fee,
  • Abstract and confirmation of acceptance of the conference contribution,
  • Proof of registration.

Maximum funding amounts: 250 euros (national Conference), 300 euros (Europe) or 500 euros (outside Europe)

2. Conference grants for Online events

In order to enable young scientists to actively participate in Online Conferences that are subject to a fee, the Division is expanding its existing scholarship program to include Online Conferences. The framework conditions of the regular scholarship program apply.
