The senior experts undertake joint excursions. These events – preferably a combination of culture and chemistry – focus not only on discovering new horizons but also on fostering social connections among the seniors. In addition to the senior members of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), the senior members of the Hanau-Wolfgang branch of the Association of German Chemical Engineers (VAA) usually also participate in these excursions.
This first excursion on May 23, 2007 was organized by Holger Bengs; all subsequent tours were organized by Wolfgang Gerhartz, partly with strong support from Eva Wille, Klaus-Peter Jäckel and Hans-Uwe von Grabowski.
- The visit to the Chempark Leverkusen is the destination of the 16th SEC technology tour (September 9-11, 2026).
- The visit to the KIT Campus North in Karlsruhe (formerly Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre) was the destination of the 15th SEC technology tour.
- On September 23, 2024, we met for a visit to ThyssenKrupp in Duisburg.
- The 13th SEC Technology Tour took us to Weinheim on the Bergstrasse on February 22, 2024, to the company Freudenberg SE.
- During the 12th SEC Technology Tour (27-29 Sep 2022) we had the opportunity to visit the food testing institute in Oldenburg.
- The 11th SEC Technology Tour took place on September 12th and 13th, 2021, to Duderstadt in the Eichsfeld region (city tour) and to Deuna (visit to the plastics processing plant of B+T and the cement plant of Dyckerhoff).
- The 10th SEC Technology Tour took us to the flat steel works in Salzgitter and to the old town of Braunschweig (30 Sep-1 Oct 19).
- The August Köhler SE paper mill in Oberkirch was on the agenda for the 9th SEC Technology Tour on September 7, 2018.
- The 8th SEC Technology Tour took place on October 4, 2017, at the German Amphibolin Works DAW SE in Ober-Ramstadt.
- The Fantastic Library and the award-winning Leica Camera AG building in Wetzlar were the destinations of the 7th SEC Technology Tour on November 24, 2015.
- The 6th SEC Technology Tour also led to Darmstadt to the Hessian State Museum and to the Society for Heavy Ion Research (GSI) in Wixhausen.
- During the 5th SEC-Technology tour to Darmstadt on November 14, 2013, the Hundertwasser House was visited, followed by a visit to the Merck company (focusing on OLED).
- On 26 Aug 2011 the 4th SEC-Technology tour started to Erbach in the Odenwald (Einhard Basilica in Steinbach and city tour) and finally to the company Koziol.
- The 3rd SEC Technology Tour took place on August 30, 2010, in Darmstadt to visit ESOC (Europe's gateway to space) and the Art Nouveau villas on the Mathildenhöhe.
- On June 16, 2009, the 2nd SEC-Technology tour went to Zwingenberg on the Bergstrasse to visit BRAIN AG.
- A visit to the Höchst industrial park and the Sanofi-Aventis laboratories on May 23, 2007, the 1st SEC Technology Tour, marked the beginning.
