Supramolecular Chemistry

SUPRAMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY WORKING GROUP
INVITATION TO THE FOUNDING MEETING

March 18, 2025 - 5:30 p.m. - Audimax

TU Braunschweig - Universitätsplatz 3 - 38106 Braunschweig
during the Chemiedozententagung 2025

From March 18, 2025, GDCh members of all disciplines and experience levels are cordially invited to join the Working Group . Membership is free in 2025; for student GDCh members it will remain free beyond that date.

Who we are - What we do

The Supramolecular Chemistry Working Group will be founded in 2025 and is the youngest Division within the German Chemical Society (GDCh). Supramolecular chemistry is an interdisciplinary research area that ranges from organic, inorganic and physical chemistry to life and materials science and has a long tradition in Germany. The research field has gained considerable importance in the last two decades - visible through the establishment of numerous research associations and the great success of the "SupraChem"Conferences, which have grown steadily since their initiation in 2011; SupraChem 2024 already recorded 330 participants.

Our goal is to promote science and research through

  • exchange of information and experience across disciplines
  • Cooperation with other GDCh Divisions and our European sister organizations
  • Supporting the next generation of supramolecular chemists
  • Promoting the application of supramolecular research in industry
  • Recognition of outstanding achievements in teaching and research on supramolecular chemistry

We pursue this goal through, among other things,

  • Hosting of the SupraChem Conferences (2026 at TU Dortmund University)
  • Support for national and international networking activities
  • Awarding of prizes (to be determined) at all relevant career levels
  • Participation in the GDCh's continuing education program (GDCh.academy)
