Chemistry is...

Wherever we turn in everyday life: there is exciting science and technology to discover everywhere. This also applies to chemistry. If we open our eyes, for example, we would not see anything without chemical processes - but nothing at all! With a series of cartoons "Chemistry is when..." we draw attention to everyday chemical processes.

There is a short, generally understandable text for each drawing; the website for this opens when you click on the drawings below. The text explains the respective chemistry in everyday life in simple language. In this case, "explaining" means not only praising the advantages, but also naming the risks. A few selected links lead further.

The focus of the drawings is our friendly green title monster, called "Erlenmeyerchen (see Nachr. Chem. 2021, 69 (19), 96 ). All drawings are by Maike Hettinger.
