The 9th SEC annual meeting took place in Magdeburg (6-8 May 24). 187 participants enjoyed an interesting lecture program (see below), a pleasant atmosphere, a well-organized supporting program and, last but not least, many conversations on the sidelines. A detailed report on the meeting will soon appear in the Nachrichten aus der Chemie.
On May 8, 2024, Prof. Dr. Heribert Offermann was awarded honorary membership, the highest award of the GDCh, by former GDCh President Karsten Danielmeier . After the Conference , Offermann provided us with a quote from Martin Buber that could be used as a motto for the SEC annual meeting : " When we stop meeting each other, it is as if we stopped breathing."
