What does a local association or regional forum website do?
The websites of the local chapters and the JCF regional forums are an important tool for external presentation of the regional GDCh activities, but they also serve for internal communication. The primary goal of the websites should be the publication of current information about the GDCh event program on site.
What information should your own website contain?
A good website of a regional structure contains the following content
- Complete contact details for the local section chairperson or the spokesperson for the JCF regional forum
- GDCh logo, possibly GDCh-JCF logo
- Links to www.gdch.de, www.jungchemikerforum.de and other applicable regional structures (JCF refers to OV, OV refers to JCF)
- Current dates of events and lectures organized by the local section or the regional forum
What are the minimum formal requirements a website must meet?
According to the Telemedia Act (TMG), your website must have an easily accessible
imprint and its content must not violate applicable law (criminal law, copyright law, youth protection).

In the same area, addresses can also be obtained in Excel format for making contact by post. The data protection regulations must be observed here.
What should the imprint look like?
The imprint is the legally required indication of origin, which must be easily recognizable, directly accessible and constantly available. It contains information about the operator of the website (§§ 5, 6 TMG). Who is the person responsible for the content?
Responsible for the content of the website is the chairman of the local association or the spokesperson for the JCF regional forum or another natural person to whom editorial responsibility has been transferred.
What obligations does the person responsible for the content have?
The person responsible for the content assumes the duties of an online editor who ensures that the published texts and works comply with applicable laws (criminal law, copyright law, protection of minors). This person should clearly identify the responsibilities assumed.
Do I need a content Management system?
Content Management systems are used for the collective creation, processing and organization of content on websites. You simplify responsibilities and harmonize work processes. The use of such a system is urgently recommended in order to make it easier for subsequent officials and partners to publish content. The most widespread content Management systems are all open source software (ie open source and therefore free of charge). Examples are WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and Typo3.
Do I need a contact person?
To make your work easier, you can name a contact person who is available for organizational or content-related questions from visitors to the website. The contact person does not replace the person responsible for the content.
