The working group was founded in 2003. The reason for its establishment was less the existence of a very specific question, but rather the realization that this area, which traditionally belongs to the field of food chemists, had received too little attention from the LChG (German Food Chemistry Society).

Another impetus for the new activities has of course been the emphasis placed on the close link between food and feed by European and national legislators in the recent past.

The working group focuses on topics that link feed and food, such as food and feed law issues and questions of feed analysis.
