working group 8 - Cooperation

status quo

There is contact and regular exchange with senior chemists of the American Chemical Society (ACS; Robert Yokley), the Swiss Chemical Society (SCG; David Spichiger), and the Austrian Chemical Society (GÖCh; Walter Schneider). Senior chemist subgroups also exist at the Società Chimica Italiana (SCI), the Société Chimique de France (SCF), and likely also at the Royal Chemical Society (RSC), and possibly at the Portuguese Chemical Society as well.

Close cooperation with GDCh Divisions: history of chemistry, chemical education and the Commission for Equal Opportunities within the GDCh

Exploratory cooperation with the Working Group Process Analytics (PAT; Division of Analytical Chemistry)

Cooperation with the Society of German Natural Scientists and Physicians (GDNÄ)

Cooperation with JungesForumChemie: Annual conference, technology tours,

Cooperation with GECCos (successful joint event as a satellite meeting to the 10th SEC annual meeting in Bayreuth)

Cooperation with DECHEMA regarding "...yes, but how"

Goals

 

• Start an exchange between SCI and SCF; increase participation in Conferences.
• Possibility of special fees/funding programs for Conferences such as those of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS); joint small symposium in Vienna in 2028?
• Promote cross- Divisions projects and active participation in commissions, think tanks, etc.
• Continuously ensure a steady supply of new talent

Promotion of experimental teaching (Education working group )

Exploring cooperation with VAA: The aim is to inform VAA members about the GDCh-SEC Division . The programs for retired members appear to complement each other.

Renewal of cooperation with LMC Society, joint events such as “Yes, but how?”
