Statistics of Chemistry degree programs

Every year, the German Chemical Society (GDCh) collects extensive data from all universities offering chemistry programs. This data includes the number of students in the various stages of study, the number of exams taken, their grades, and the duration of studies. Information on career entry after bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees is also recorded. The GDCh receives support from the chemistry departments at the universities for this survey. The statistics are published annually at the beginning of July.

You can access the statistics with data from 2025 (published July 2026) here.

Survey on postdoctoral qualifications, junior professorships and the proportion of women among professors

For several years now, the GDCh has also been collecting data on post-doctoral qualifications, post-doctoral candidates and junior professorships at German universities. The proportion of female C3 and C4 professors was also asked. The survey is carried out every two years.
