News from chemistry and the GDCh

information and contacts

press releases and social media
Our chemistry press service informs daily newspapers, journals, radio, television and Online media about current events in chemistry. We provide information about our Conferences and other events, publish statements and position papers and report on other activities of the GDCh.

We also communicate with various target groups via our social media channels LinkedIn, Instagram, Bluesky, facebook, X (formerly Twitter ), and our YouTube channel youtube.com/@gdch. You can also find current information for members and other interested parties on our homepage. Our GDCh app is particularly suitable for users of mobile devices and is also available to download free of charge from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

You can find our brochures and scientific publications under Publications. An overview of all publications, including publications from our Divisions, our statistics for chemistry courses, annual reports, etc. can be found under Downloads. A compilation of publications on relevant topics is published on our Top Topics page.

press service
We hold press conferences at important Conferences such as the GDCh Chemistry Science Forum. We offer to put you in touch with experts from various fields for background research and questions from journalists. Please note, however, that we usually forward inquiries to our respective Divisions , who are looking for experts in their ranks. It may therefore take some time before we can put you in touch with a contact person.

events for the interested public
In addition to our scientific events for chemical experts, we regularly organize events for the general public. There we present chemistry-related topics that are of interest to society. We are represented at international trade fairs and congresses at home and abroad, as well as at events for students and teachers.

Highlights of "Angewandte Chemie"

Angewandte Chemie is one of the most important journals of the GDCh. The weekly journal is ranked first among all chemistry journals worldwide in the Citation Index - a measure of the frequency of reading and the quality of the articles. For research chemists, "Angewandte" is required reading. You can find Angewandte Chemie's press releases here.

In 2017, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of our predecessor organization, the German Chemical Society, which was founded in Berlin in 1867. You can find everything about the anniversary year on a special page. There you will also find the pictures from our photo competition.

The German Chemical Society (GDCh) itself was founded in 1949.
