detergent chemistry

Who we are - What we do

The stormy developments in the field of chemistry and technology of washing and cleaning, which have been recorded especially since the 1950s, and the associated diverse ecological, human toxicological and other problems required cooperation between representatives of the most diverse disciplines in science and technology absolutely necessary.

The GDCh Division was founded in Bamberg in 1974 as a forum for the scientific exchange of opinions and experiences from all people from universities, research institutes, authorities and the raw materials and detergent industries who are involved in the challenges of detergent chemistry. Within this forum, discussions on all technical questions relating to detergents and cleaning agents can be held openly and constructively. Particular attention is paid to science-oriented statements about the sustainable benefits for people in their environment and to promoting young scientists. In 2010 the name was changed to the GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry. The Division has around 400 members.
