2012 Bad Dürkheim

4th SEC annual meeting

For the fourth time, the annual meeting of Senior Expert Chemists took place from May 9th to 11th, 2012 under the motto "The Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region as a power and innovation center". This year the seniors met at the Mercure Hotel in Bad Dürkheim. The local organization was in the hands of Hermann Pütter, Ulrich Schirmer and Peter Thieme.

With well over 300 participants, the meeting was the most popular so far. But the quality of the Conference in the top league. The invited speakers offered lectures of the finest quality: from the problems of feeding the world's population of the future to the therapy of brain tumors with ion beams. The discussion with young chemists took place mainly on the basis of their posters. In addition, young and old had ample opportunity to discuss new research or scientific findings on old problems. A trip to BASF in Ludwigshafen and a joint dinner in the Feierabendhaus - alternatively a guided tour in Speyer - complemented the scientific program of the Conference.

A detailed report on the Conference is available for download as a PDF file. The slides of the presentations and the posters can be downloaded as PDF files below (list of presentations) - of course only if the authors have given their express permission. Photos from the Conference can also be viewed (photo gallery); all photos: © 2012 Wolfgang Gerhartz.

The fourth annual meeting of senior chemistry experts was supported by the Federal Senior Expert Chemists , Seniors, Women and Youth.
