In 1995 the industrial group was formed within the Division . This working group has set itself the goal of giving the history of the chemical industry and technology a higher priority. In this context, the volumes "Zeitzeugen -berichte - Chemische Industrie" appeared in the series "GDCh-Monographien".
Following a resolution by the Board of Directors of the Division of History of Chemistry at its meeting on September 11, 2017 in Berlin, the working group
Industriekreis dissolved on December 31, 2018. Its activities will be integrated into the lectures and publications of the Division of History of Chemistry .

The last eyewitness conference in 2018 took place in Leuna from September 27th to 28th, 2018. The host was InfraLeuna GmbH.
An important reason why this conference location was chosen again after 1996 and 2003 is that this location has great and symbolic significance for the history of the chemical industry in Germany.
The 13th Conference of the industrial group took place from 15.09. to 16.09.16 at TÜV Nord in Hanover. program
The 2012 Conference of the industrial group took place from September 6th to 7th in Frankfurt am Main. It was carried out in the administration building of the former CASSELLA AG, today the headquarters of the Managing Directors of Alessa GmbH in Frankfurt-Fechenheim.
