As a rule, the Division organizes a "Perspektivenentag" (formerly: doctoral day) every one to two years, which offers young people, such as students or doctoral candidates, the opportunity to learn more about potential employers and to make contacts.
5th Perspectives Day at the Federal Environment Agency
Anyone who has always wanted to get to know the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) better as an employer had the opportunity to do so on November 20, 2019. The GDCh Division of Environmental Chemistry & Ecotoxicology organized its annual Perspectives Day this time in Dessau-Roßlau. The day offered students and doctoral candidates the opportunity to learn more about the UBA as a potential employer and to make initial contacts. In addition to general information on the work of the UBA in Dessau-Roßlau, the regulation of chemicals was examined from different sides in specialist lectures. In addition to an introduction to regulatory ecotoxicology, there were also presentations on the Water Framework Directive as a media-related regulation and on flame retardants in waste electrical equipment as an example of product-related regulations. There was also a tour of the architectural and technical features of the headquarters. It was particularly exciting for the participants to get an impression of the everyday work of the speakers. This was also served by an afternoon meeting with new UBA employees, who talked about their experiences in the application phase and starting their careers.
The 4th doctoral student day on October 10, 2017 enabled a look behind the scenes at Eurofins Agroscience Services GmbH in Niefern-Öschelbronn in Baden-Württemberg.
The Board of the GDCh Division of Environmental Chemistry & Ecotoxicology invited on October 20, 2016 to the 3rd doctoral day at the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME in Schmallenberg.
The 2nd PhD student day took place on October 28, 2015 at Bayer CropScience in Monheim and provided insights into the subject areas ?Environmental Fate, Metabolism and Ecotoxicology?.
This meeting for doctoral students and young professionals at potential employers was launched on November 25, 2014 with a visit to BASF at the Ludwigshafen (or Frankenthal sewage treatment plant) and Limburgerhof (plant protection center) sites.
