Who we are - What we do

Forum for Chemistry Teaching of the Future

Boasting a network of around 1,900 members, the Division of Chemical Education (FGCU) offers a wide spectrum of activities and information to raise the quality and efficiency of chemistry teaching. These include, for example:

  • Reduced participation fees for the division’s annual conference which offers a platform for future viable chemistry teaching via numerous experimental lectures and symposia, workshops and poster sessions as well as the General Meeting;
  • Annual conferences with practical lectures and workshops;
  • Prizes for exceptional performance in the field of Chemical Education;
  • “CHEMKON”, the division’s magazine with current contributions from teaching, expert didactics and science;
  • Work groups on various aspects;
  • Reduced subscription rates for the journal “Chemie in unserer Zeit”; and
  • Publications concerning Chemical Education and the university major of teaching.

As a member of the FGCU, you are welcome to incorporate your interests and exchange ideas with colleagues from school and university as well as science and industry. Become a part of our network!


Continuing Education for Teachers

The German Chemical Society e.V. (GDCh) and the  Chemical Industry Funds (FCI) established seven continuing education centers for teachers. The centers offer a wide variety of courses for chemistry teachers, organized by didactics experts, scientific experts and teachers.
