What are named lectures?

The German Chemical Society, together with international partner organizations, has set up a series of named lectures, which are given as a special honor to eminent scientists in the respective country. The aim of the named lectures is to establish scientific relationships  intensify between countries.

The most traditional of these named lectures is the August Wilhelm von Hofmann lecture, based on the example of which the GDCh has set up named lectures in bilateral agreements with partner companies in Europe. The named lectures were set up on a reciprocal basis, which means that scientists are always invited alternately.

Allocation of named lectures

The partner companies honor renowned chemists with their name lectures on the basis of mutual agreements. The winner will be invited to a lecture tour in the partner country and will hold a lecture at three universities or scientific institutions during this time.

The awards and invitations are usually alternated annually between the participating companies.

Bestehende Namensvorlesungen

The GDCh specialist groups give further name lectures.
