In 2017 the GDCh celebrated the 150th anniversary of the founding of its predecessor society, the Deutsche Chemische Gesellschaft. On this occation we held an anniversary meeting in Berlin.

The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) share a common history, especially marked by August Wilhelm von Hofmann, an outstanding chemist of the 19th century, who was President of the Chemical Society of London from 1861 to 1863 and after his return to Berlin founding President of the Deutsche Chemische Gesellschaft (DChG) in 1867. Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the GDCh in 2017 and the 175th Anniversary of the RSC in 2016, a  one-day meeting was held on 25th October 2017 at the London offices of the Royal Society of Chemistry. The brochure of this event (pdf, 10 MB) is available.

Connecting Chemists

The GDCh manages some thirty meetings a year from division gatherings  to nationally- and internationally-renowned conferences drawing scientists not only from Germany, but from around the globe.  The biannual "GDCh-Wissenschaftsforum Chemie" (GDCh Science Forum Chemistry") is one of the largest chemistry events in the German-speaking world. Moreover, the GDCh congress team is happy to assist you as a potential organizer and chairperson  with its  planning & conference  know-how. Browse meetings and symposia here (in many cases, the conference language is English).
